First Conditional Conversation Questions
The first conditional is used to describe future situations that we think are possible or real.
- If I clean my room my mom will be happy.
- If I sleep late I will be tired tomorrow.
- I will be thirsty if I exercise.
The first conditional is typically structured like this:
IF/WHEN + PRESENT SIMPLE + WILL + INFINITIVE
- If she eats too much food she will become fat.
- When I finish my homework I will go to the park.
However, the sentence structure can also be reversed:
WILL + INFINITIVE + IF/WHEN + PRESENT SIMPLE
- I will work hard if I get the new job.
- I will take my girlfriend to dinner when I receive my first paycheck.
