It started as a normal morning in Springfield until Homer realized they had run out of donuts. Desperate, he called around to every bakery in town, but no one had his favorite pink-frosted kind. “D’oh! This can’t be happening!” he yelled.

While Marge tried to sort things out by baking homemade donuts, Homer decided to check out Moe’s Tavern to calm down. But Moe wasn’t there; he had gone out to take somebody out on a date. So Homer asked around the bar to see who else wanted to hang out. Lenny and Carl agreed, and they all decided to get together at the bowling alley instead.

Halfway through their game, Homer’s boss Mr. Burns showed up unexpectedly. Homer tried to keep it from him that he had skipped work, but it didn’t work. Burns shouted, “Simpson, get back to the plant! We’ve got a meltdown to sort out!”

When Homer got to the plant, chaos was everywhere. Instead of panicking, he finally decided to get down to business and actually do his job. After fixing the issue (mostly by accident), Burns congratulated him and offered him tickets to a concert that night.

That evening, Homer took Marge out for dinner and the concert. On the way home, he said, “Maybe I should give up beer for a while.” Marge smiled knowingly. “You’ve said that before, Homie. Maybe someday you’ll grow out of that habit.”

They laughed for a moment and felt something weird happening in the car. It turns out Homer had forgotten to change the oil! The car broke down on their way home so they ended up sleeping over at the Flanders’ house, because of course, Homer’s crazy day wasn’t over yet.
