The Rocky Mountains
Phrasal Verb Story
Jared woke up in his Denver apartment and looked outside. The Rocky Mountains were covered in snow, which he liked. He decided that today he was going to take his new ski gear and hit the slopes. He picked up his phone and called around to see if anyone else wanted to go with him. Since it was so early, no one picked up the call.
Since no one picked up, Jared ended up going alone. He hopped in the car and started driving. He made a quick stop at the gas station and topped off his car with gas. While it was filling up, he went inside and looked for something to eat. All he saw was junk food. Since he was trying to cut down on sugar, he decided not to buy anything.
He went back to his car and continued on his journey. More and more cars began to show up on the road as he got closer to the mountains. Traffic slowed down, but Jared didn’t mind. He turned up the radio and tried to chill out. After all, it was a beautiful morning.
When he finally reached the ski resort, he noticed the parking lot was almost full. He managed to pull into a tight spot near the entrance and grabbed his gear. The mountain looked incredible, with sunlight glinting off the snow. Jared smiled and thought, “Time to make the most of it.”
After a few hours on the slopes, he stopped for lunch at the lodge. As he sipped his coffee, he overheard two skiers talking about a hidden trail that wasn’t on the map. Curious, he decided to check it out. The trail was steep, but the snow was perfect. He raced down, laughing as the wind hit his face.
By the end of the day, Jared was exhausted but happy. He packed up his things and looked at the mountains one last time before heading home. “You know,” he said to himself, “sometimes it’s good to go with the flow.”
